Congressional Investments Provide a Boost for Clean Water, Local Economies
(SCRANTON, PA)—Today, U.S. Congressman Matt Cartwright announced federal investments of $100,000 to protect and restore local water quality in northeastern Pennsylvania. These grants are part of a larger $18 million investment of funds directed by the U.S. Congress to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation to improve the health of waterways throughout the Chesapeake Bay watershed.

Chesapeake Bay Advocates Maintain Pressure for Strong Clean Water Funding
(WASHINGTON, DC)—Today, more than 100 members of the Choose Clean Water Coalition met with their members of Congress to urge support for the Chesapeake Bay restoration effort. The Coalition, made up of more than 250 nonprofit organizations throughout the Chesapeake Bay watershed, is asking Congress to maintain, and in some instances, increase funding for programs that are critical to attaining clean water.
The President's Budget Once Again Slashes Funding for Chesapeake Bay Restoration
(ANNAPOLIS, MD)—Today, the President released his budget for Fiscal Year 2021, which recommends reducing the $85 million budget for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Chesapeake Bay Program to $7.3 million–a 91 percent cut to current funding. Choose Clean Water Coalition Statement on Widespread Condemnation of Tucker Carlson's Comments on Potomac River Pollution
(ANNAPOLIS, MD)—In coordination with the Potomac Conservancy, the Choose Clean Water Coalition gathered signatures of support from clean water and environmental organizations in the region condemning Carlson's comments blaming immigrant communities for making the Potomac River “dirtier.”
Choose Clean Water Coalition Statement on the Increase of Chesapeake Bay Program Funding to $85 Million
(ANNAPOLIS, MD)—Yesterday, Congress announced the funding of $85 million to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Chesapeake Bay Program (CBP) for FY20. This is an increase over the $73 million allocated to CBP for the past five years. Now that there is agreement on the funding package, it must now pass the House and the Senate and be signed by the President by midnight Friday to avoid a government shutdown or require another short-term funding bill.
