TMDL
"The Chesapeake Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL)." "The Chesapeake Bay Pollution Diet." "The Chesapeake Clean Water Blueprint." These are just a few of the names to describe the federal-state plan to restore the health of the rivers and streams that feed the Chesapeake Bay. Through this cleanup plan, states are required to develop detailed plans, in coordination with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, to meet measurable pollution-reduction goals. With regular intervals every two years to review progress, the "TMDL" is designed to have all pollution reduction practices in place by 2025.
With an effort of this scope and complexity, oversight and accountability is necessary to ensure states are meeting their goals and EPA is fulfilling its role administering the cleanup plan. As the 2025 deadline approaches, the Coalition and its members are dedicated to working with all stakeholders to ensure all cleanup goals are met and states and municipalities are equipped to succeed.
The Coalition is focused on ensuring the future of the restoration effort gets back on track. Learn more about what the Coalition is advocating for beyond the 2025 restoration deadline.
