An Intern's-Eye View: 2024 Chesapeake Bay Day on the Hill
In the halls of Congress last week, I spotted four American Legion veterans, three cowboys, two goths, and a peanut farmer. It was the Choose Clean Water Coalition’s 13th annual Chesapeake Bay Day on the Hill (affectionately called “Lobby Day”), and I was there along with nearly 100 Coalition members to ask our representatives to protect the rivers and streams in the Chesapeake Bay watershed.

It might be the best way to clean our water. Planting trees along rivers and streams provides multiple benefits in the work to protect and restore our rivers and streams. Which is why the Coalition was excited to host its first on-the-ground restoration event in collaboration with PennFuture and the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay.
"Earmark" Is No Longer a Dirty Word
No one is anticipating dramatic changes and instant bipartisanship with the return of earmarks in 2021…but it could be a small step in the right direction.
Taking the Bay to the Hill
Whenever anyone asks me about the power of the Coalition, one of the first things I mention is our Chesapeake Bay Day on Capitol Hill, or “Lobby Day.” Every year, the Coalition gathers its members from throughout the Chesapeake Bay watershed to meet with their members of Congress and their staff to discuss the importance of funding for the EPA Chesapeake Bay Program.
