Welcoming Sara Ramotnik!
My name is Sara Ramotnik (she/her) and I am so excited to join the Choose Clean Water Coalition team as the Senior Membership and Program Coordinator! I'm especially thrilled to work with Coalition members and staff to advocate for the protection and restoration of our natural resources in the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
Growing up in southern Maryland, I spent a lot of time outdoors whether it was hiking after a fresh snowfall, picking vegetables from local farms, or exploring the tributaries of the Bay by boat. Having experienced all that this region has to offer since a young age, natural resource conservation has piqued my interest time and time again.
At the University of Maryland, College Park (UMD) I earned a BS in Environmental Science and Policy with a concentration in economics from the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. During my time at UMD, I interned at the Chesapeake Bay Program, compiling agricultural trends and analyzing water quality data. While in college, I also worked in environmental education with a local company in Charles County, guiding school groups at Mattawoman Creek and Mallows Bay.
Upon graduating from UMD, I completed a service year with the Chesapeake Conservation Partnership through the Chesapeake Conservation Corps. There, I convened land conservation organizations from across the watershed to advance their priorities through collaboration and advocacy. I come to the CCWC team from the Eastern Shore Land Conservancy where as their policy manager, I developed and advanced their policy priorities at the local, state, and federal levels.
Outside of work, I strive to get on the water as much as possible whether through sailing, kayaking, or SUP'ing with my corgi Hobie!
As I step into this role with the Choose Clean Water Coalition, I look forward to working alongside members of the Coalition to expand our community as well as to advance our shared priorities. I am grateful to work with you all to advocate for healthy communities, habitats, and clean water across the Chesapeake Bay watershed!
