A Conversation with Congressman John Sarbanes

On Wednesday, October 27, the Choose Clean Water Coalition’s Equity Workgroup hosted Congressman John Sarbanes (D-MD) for a candid conversation on environmental justice issues in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. More than 50 Coalition members, partners, funders, and stakeholders were in attendance.

A variety of topics were discussed, including current legislation like Environmental Justice for All and the Environmental Justice Mapping and Data Collection Act. Additionally, the Coalition and the Congressman touched on the importance of meaningful community engagement, investing in communities that are managing on-the-ground restoration projects, and equitable grantmaking.

We look forward to future conversations with Congressman Sarbanes and working with all members of the Chesapeake Bay Congressional delegation to ensure our work for clean water is centered on environmental justice.
