Supreme Court Backs Chesapeake Bay Clean Up

Supreme Court Backs The Chesapeake Bay Clean Up

(Annapolis, MD) – Today, the U.S. Supreme Court agreed with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) plan to clean up the Chesapeake Bay.  Denying the challenge by the American Farm Bureau Federation and its allies, the decision supports a lower court ruling allowing the state-implemented, EPA-guided effort to reduce pollution in local rivers, streams, and waterways.

In response, Choose Clean Water Coalition Director, Jill Witkowski Heaps issued a statement:

“The Choose Clean Water Coalition and its members applaud the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to continue working towards restoring the water quality to the thousands of streams and rivers in the Chesapeake Bay watershed.  The Chesapeake Bay Blueprint serves as a stepping stone to improve the health and quality of life for our communities while providing benefits to our environment and economy.”
